Why teams choose embroidered workwear
Embroidery is the classic way to brand a uniform. The logo is stitched into the fabric, so it looks smart on day one and still looks right after years of washing.
Built to last
Stitched into the garment, so it copes with everyday washing and keeps its colour and shape for the life of the garment.
Looks professional
The raised, textured finish suits customer-facing staff, offices, reception teams and anyone who represents your business.
Matches every time
We keep your stitch file on record, so new starters and reorders match the rest of the team.
Works on almost anything
Polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, fleeces, softshells, jackets, caps, bags, aprons and towels can all be embroidered.
How embroidery works at SP Workwear
Embroidery isn't just putting a logo on a shirt. There's a skilled step between your logo file and the finished garment, and it's why we get it right.
- Digitising. We turn your logo into a stitch file, mapping every colour and line as individual stitches. Stitch direction and density are set by hand for the fabric you've chosen.
- Testing. We stitch a test to check small text and fine detail, and adjust it until it sews cleanly.
- Your proof. You see a visual showing exactly where your logo goes and how big it is. Nothing is made until you approve it.
- Production and checks. Your garments are stitched on our machines, then trimmed, pressed and checked before they're packed.
What can we embroider?
Getting the best from your logo
Most logos embroider really well. A few simple points help them look their best in thread.
- Bold shapes and clear lettering stitch best. Very small text can fill in, so we may suggest a slightly simplified version.
- Gradients, shadows and photographs don't translate into thread. If your logo relies on them, printing may suit it better.
- Left chest is the classic position. Sleeves, the back of the neck, caps and bags all work too.
- We match thread colours as closely as possible to your brand colours, and you'll see them on your proof.
Embroidered or printed workwear?
We do both in-house, and many customers use both: embroidery on the polos and fleeces staff wear every day, printing on event T-shirts and hi vis. Here's how they compare.
| Embroidery | DTF printing | |
|---|---|---|
| Finish | Raised, textured and premium | Flat, bright and full colour |
| Best for | Polo shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, softshells, jackets, caps and bags | T-shirts, hoodies, hi vis, sportswear, event wear and tote bags |
| Detailed or multi-colour logos | Limited, thread cannot blend colours or show fine gradients | Ideal, including gradients and fine detail |
| Large back designs | Possible, but heavy and costly | Ideal |
| Setup | One-off setup for each new logo, nothing extra when you reorder | No setup fee |
| Wash care | Any normal wash | Inside out at 30°C for the longest life |

How much does embroidered workwear cost?
The price depends on the garment, the size of your logo and how many positions you want. Each new logo has a one-off setup charge for digitising, and there's nothing extra to pay when you reorder the same logo. Our pricing is based on how much you spend, so bigger orders cost less per item. You can see live prices, including embroidery, on every product page.
Embroidered workwear questions, answered
What file do I need to send?
Any logo file is fine to start with. A vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) is ideal, but we can work from a good quality PNG or JPG and will let you know if anything needs tidying.
How long does embroidered workwear take?
Most orders are with you 7 to 10 working days after you approve your proof. If you need it sooner, ask us and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
Is there a minimum order?
No. You can order a single embroidered garment or kit out a whole team.
Will my reorders match?
Yes. We keep your stitch file on record, so reorders and new starters match the rest of your team.
Can you match our brand colours?
We match thread colours as closely as possible to your brand colours, and you'll see them on your proof before anything is made.
Can you add names or job titles?
Often, yes. Names or roles can usually be added under your logo. Tell us what you need and we'll show it on your proof.
Ready to get your logo stitched?
